COLORADO FAQ

7. Can I renew my Colorado driver license through the Internet?
Presently, driver licenses cannot be renewed through the Internet. However, Colorado has launched a website for Electronic Renew By Mail, which allows eligible Colorado drivers holding a regular license to either print a renew-by-mail application, at their convenience, or have an application sent to their current address. Otherwise, eligible customers will automatically receive a renew-by-mail application prior to the expiration of their driver license. Participation is optional. Renewal may still be done in person. Mail renewal will be done every other renewal period for drivers age 21 up to 61, holding a regular license. The previous photo and fingerprint are used for the new driver license. Commercial Driver License holders are not eligible for this service.

8. Can I pay the license fee with a credit card?
Credit cards, payroll checks and third-party checks are not accepted. Fees may be paid with cash, personal check or money orders for the exact amount only. Traveler's checks will be accepted in the amount of $50 or less.

9. If my license expires, am I required to take a test to get a new license?

If the license is expired for one year or less there is no written or drive test. Vision testing is required. If the license is expired over one year, both the written and drive tests are required and two primary forms of identification must be presented. Please refer to FAQ #1 for the complete identification list.
